Design and Development of Biosensors for Progesterone Detection

Progesterone (P4) is an important biomarker of various diseases. When P4 level exceeds the normal value, human body produces a series problems, including carcinogenic risks. Developing method for monitoring with accurate, inexpensive, and fast becomes topic researchers. In recent years, abundance new materials synthesis technologies has developed biosensors. Based on functional materials, this paper reviews decade literatures summarizes latest progress applications in enhancing detection P4. study, used to manufacture biosensors are mainly divided into three categories: metal metal-oxide nanomaterials, composite material, other materials. A material refers combination two or types carbonaceous polymers, biological The include special compounds, biomaterials, luciferin quantum dot which one two. introduction these improves sensitivity selectivity detection. Moreover, study provides ideas future research improving performance biosensor. should put more attentions enzyme catalysis amplification, cyclic DNA isothermal amplification strategies.
